ESPN ah ?

This is my first review for a film - to say precisely, for a short film.
Bear with that !

I remember the interview of Paava Kadhigal directors with the film critic Baradwaj Rangan, in which Director Vetri Maran said that the audience would see Vignesh's film first and would see the segments of rest of us directors' film later.Vetri Maran justified the above statement saying that Vignesh's movie used to have a sense of humour which would entice the audience. I too started watching in the order of Vignesh Shivan's film at first.

This is Part - 1 of Paava Kadhaigal review.

So, first I shall review Director Vignesh Shivan's (Vignesh Shivan ah illa Vignesh ShivN ah ?) "Love Panna Uttranum"

   (Pic Courtesy : Madbird)

I don't want to iterate the story of this segment, as some of you would have seen the film - others you wouldn't have seen. In the same way, the film begins with Kalki Koechlin reciting a poem of Avvaiyaar and concluding with the note there are two types of people in the world.

I shall stop here.

I don't want to cross the meaning of review by telling the summary of the film.

This is a queer-baiting film with Vignesh Shivan's (here after VS) quirkiness and first-rate acting from every characters. One thing I love about VS' film is, not his dark humour but his cast selection - Example : 'Rahul thatha' from Naanum Rowdy Thaan and obviously 'Narikutty' from this segment, Love Pannaa Uttranum.
His cast selection is, in a word, Class !

And, a man whom we should not miss to appreciate is, not 'Narikutty' (RIP your guess 😉), but Theni Eshwar, the cinematographer of this film. I love Theni Eshwar's cinematography especially in 'Merku Thodarchi Malai,' that aerial shots are of superior quality. In this film, he just played with the light.

Production Designer Kamalanathan further enhanced cinematography by his excellent artworks.

But,
Later on, I came to know that - this man, Theni Eshwar dubbed for 'Narikutty'
(Now you say, should we miss to appreciate this man ?)

Then, the Background Music of Anirudh Ravichander - this duo always creates a stunning musical pieces and and the BGM of 'Love Panna Uttranum' is nothing short of perfect.I fell in love with the BGM at first listening.

Though it's not a perfect film, it can be enjoyed for the above mentioned factors besides the visual comedy of Veera Simman's gang, when Kalki says that they (Anjali and Kalki) are in Lesbian (ESPN 😂) relationship.

Since OTT is devoid of censorship, VS used this advantage fully !
I don't want to dig deep into this matter.

Moreover, I felt this end-note is unnecessary and VS could have avoided this.

Veera Simman's act of killing Aadhilakshmi but leaving Jothilakshmi can be justified by some dialogues or acts to make it realistic, but VS failed there.

Chiefly the climax is not up to the level and it is unsatisfactory as well as forced in order to end the film.Without the twist at the end, the climax would be much worse as this twist somehow rescued the climax.

Anyway, this is really a good directorial from Vignesh Shivan.
